Solid choice except for the plug
We just replaced our dead 10 year-old Inskinkerator 3/4 HP with the new Insinkerator Evolution Premier 3/4 HP model. Installation was pretty easy--I did it myself with the hubby offering an observation or two. The only part of the install that caused me a bit of confusion was when it came time to attach the electrical plug to the unit. You have the buy the plug separately, which I was aware of thanks to the advice of the guy at Lowe's (but I still think that is rather cheap of Insinkerator to not include a necessary component). The instructions with the disposal direct you to connect the disposal's white wire to the plug's white wire, and the disposal's black wire to the plug's black wire, which is all fine and dandy except the Insinkerator plug I bought didn't have color-coded wires. They were all black--one smooth and one ribbed. After a fair amount of reading and searching, we found a small notation that the plug's hot wire (the one that should be black) has smooth insulation,...
