I have these Silverpoint knives. Good stamped steel blades, but cheaper molded plastic handles compared to the top line Wusthofs. Though cheaper, these are much nicer than most people probably have, but not the best Wusthof makes - you'll pay 3-4x more for the top of the line, and most people won't be able to tell the difference in use.

The good news is the steel holds an edge well, does not rust like many cheap knives do, and the molded handles are food safe, meaning no crevices or rivets to catch bits of food. This is the style of handle used on knives the pro chefs use, for sanitary reasons. This set is a nice wedding gift, has everything and then some, and I think it's a good deal for an experienced chef too.

In practice, though, for prep you won't need all of these. It's great having them once in a while, but you can get by with only three. You'll need a good paring knife, a good 8" chef's knife, and a bread knife - that covers almost everything. I...
